A day of innovation and heritage: reflections and developments

An inspiring day on innovation and natural and cultural heritage to share knowledge with the Technological Centers of Castilla y León.

At the end of the day of the technical staff of the Cartif, Cesefor and Itagra Technology Centers at the AIR Institute facilities in Salamanca, we share the inspiring experiences of this day. A meeting that marks a milestone in the integration of technology and natural and cultural heritage.

We started with an exciting visit to the AIR Institute facilities, where we discovered the latest technologies applied to heritage. An enriching experience that showed us how modern infrastructure can enhance our cultural heritage.

Next, we dive into the strategy of Natural and Cultural Heritage of the Junta de Castilla y León in RIS3. The General Directorate of Heritage, pointed out its objective of advancing in a “Digital Heritage Management” that allows to “Create Sector” with which to enhance the value of heritage and generate economic activity around this sector, providing a key strategic context for the conservation and promotion of heritage through innovation.

After a break, we continued with interactive sessions on Generative AI and its ability to revolutionize our approach to heritage. The group discussion generated fresh ideas and novel approaches, highlighting the potential of technology to preserve and enrich our cultural heritage.

We ended with an immersion in Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing applied to heritage. These sessions, led by experts, opened new doors to future projects and promising collaborations, highlighting how innovation can be the bridge to a future more connected to our past.

This meeting not only generated valuable ideas and possible future collaborations, but also reaffirmed the crucial role of innovation in safeguarding and revitalizing our rich cultural heritage.
