CETECE, is a private non-profit organization that focuses its lines of action on the promotion of training, research and technological development, and the increase of quality and the improvement of competitiveness.

CETECE is the acronym of Fundación Centro Tecnológico de Cereales de Castilla y León. It is a private, non-profit, European entity. It was created in 1998, as a training school oriented to the cereal transformation sectors.

During its trajectory it has been expanding its field and lines of action, and currently its activities include all the agri-food sectors, focusing its lines of action on the promotion of training, research and technological development, the increase of quality and the improvement of competitiveness.

CETECE focuses its aims on the benefit of the agri-food sectors, especially the pastry, bakery and milling sectors, as well as consumers, society and the economy in general.

In the national innovation system, CETECE is recognized as an Innovation and Technology Center by the Ministry of Education and Science, and also recognized as a Research Results Transfer Office by the Ministry of Education and Science.

CETECE is a founding member of VITARTIS (Agrupación Empresarial Innovadora de Biotecnología Agroalimentaria de Castilla y León) and a member of the Food for Life Food Technology Platform.

Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I)

CETECE’s main lines of research focus on the development and implementation of applied research and innovation projects aimed at agri-food companies, both projects of general interest for the agri-food sector (promoted by the Center in collaboration with other research centers and/or companies) and projects developed exclusively for companies.

They also promote the development of functional foods, shelf-life studies, product improvement, study of technological offers and demands, and technical advice.

Research is supported by the technology provided by laboratory equipment, pilot plant machinery and the experience and professionalism of the research team. CETECE also participates in the coordination, technical and administrative management of projects, in the search for partners, organization of consortiums and in the preparation of proposals for R&D grants and subsidies.

CETECE Food Laboratory and Analytical Services

Aware of the need to offer products that conform to predefined quality standards, companies need to have an in-depth knowledge of all the phases, stages and materials involved in the production process.

The knowledge of parameters such as the quality of raw materials and their behavior during the manufacturing process, as well as the composition and hygienic-sanitary quality of the final product, become essential to improve the company’s competitiveness in the market.

CETECE has one of the best facilities at national level, equipped with the most modern technical means. Classrooms for theoretical classes; specific classroom for sales clerks, classrooms for practices, with 400 m2 of workrooms; library; laboratory, etc.

Since 1998, the CETECE laboratory has been offering food, water and food hygiene analysis services to companies that do not have their own laboratory, as well as to those that wish to contrast their results.

The laboratory also plays an important role in the research projects carried out at CETECE, serving as analytical and technical support.

CETECE Training

Since the creation of CETECE in 1998, training in the food sector has been one of the priority areas of its work.

CETECE offers a high level training service, both theoretical and practical, thanks to its extensive training experience with important food companies and with different groups, so that it provides from basic introductory training in the sector to high level courses for professionals.

Its specialization in the cereal processing sector, the permanent contact with the latest technological trends, its complete facilities and the specialized, professional, dynamic and close team of teachers make CETECE a reference in the field of food training at national level.
