The forest environment as a natural and sustainable food source

We stand out at national and European level in the management of multifunctional forestry systems, with a specific focus on the field of forest-based foodstuffs. Since our beginnings, we have been involved in activities related to mycology, natural resins, chestnut growing, pine nuts, cork, aromatic plants and raisin growing.
We work in collaboration with agents in the value chain, both public and private entities, to boost the value of forest products and products, and improve value chains and productivity in general. Our objective is to generate needs that drive the creation of associated business units, preferably in rural and regional forestry environments. In addition, we strive to identify new products and derivatives, developing sustainable management models from an environmental and economic perspective.
Our approach includes the establishment and conservation of green infrastructure, adapting it to a constantly changing environment and ensuring the continuity and sustainability of the exploitation of forest resources. To optimize the management of these products, we quantitatively value their importance and promote investments in the territory.
To achieve our objectives, we use field data obtained through sensor technologies (IoT) and data from remote sensors. In addition, we focus on the identification of new products and compounds that allow an integrated use of products and by-products, in line with the principles of the circular economy, incorporating them into management and the market.

PROBLEMS IT SOLVES

Our research, development and innovation activities are aimed at preserving the importance of economic activities related to the territory, which have little market penetration. These activities are often managed by traditional sectoral structures that are in the process of maturing and lack alternatives to develop R&D&I activities due to their weak economic entity. As a result, these structures cannot face challenges such as biotic disturbances or adaptation to climate change and limits their competitiveness in the markets. At our center, we intervene to provide tailor-made solutions with an innovative approach and specialized know-how that enable these structures to address complex challenges and find new development opportunities, to boost their growth and sustainability in a constantly evolving environment.
Our approach is based on the generation of associated business units, the identification of new products and derivatives, and the development of sustainable management models. We work with advanced technologies, such as sensory and remote sensing data, to optimize the management of forest resources. In addition, we promote the circular economy by incorporating forest products and by-products into management and the market.
Our experience in research, development and innovation allows us to address challenges and offer solutions adapted to the needs of economic activities linked to the territory.
