The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated on February 11 each year.\nThis date was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 with the aim of promoting the full and equal participation of women and girls in science education, training and research, and to highlight the importance of their access to and contribution in science and technology.\nThis year’s theme is Theme: Women in Science Leadership: A New Era for Sustainability.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n

The report ‘Women and Innovation 2022’, from the Ministry of Science and Innovation<\/a>, highlights the presence of women in science and technology, but also shows significant gaps.\nIt reveals that women are only 25% of inventors in Physical Sciences, although they reach up to 39.7% in other scientific areas. <\/p>\n\n

The commemoration seeks to address persistent gender disparities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields around the world.\nThrough this day, it aims to give visibility to women scientists, inspire girls to pursue careers in STEM, and promote policies that facilitate their full participation in science. <\/p>\n\n

In the framework of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, technology centers emerge as fundamental pillars in the promotion of gender equality in the fields of science and technology.\nThey are crucial in making the role of women in innovation visible and inspiring future generations to join these global challenges. <\/p>\n\n

From NODDO we highlight the importance of women in science and technology, highlighting the key role in Technology Centers<\/a> to enrich the innovative ecosystem.\nData from 2022 indicate that 33% of researchers in technology centers in Castilla y Le\u00f3n are women, showing a steady increase in their participation and highlighting their essential contribution to technological and scientific progress. <\/p>\n\n

Celebrating women’s contribution to science and technology from Technology Centers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Below, we highlight some initiatives that highlight the female contribution in science and technology of technology centers, reinforcing the commitment to gender equality and aligning with values of collaboration and social commitment.<\/p>\n\n

AIR Institute<\/a><\/strong> joins in this celebration with a talk focused on the gender perspective projects that are being developed within the center.\nThe activity is conceived as a space for dialogue led by women who are at the forefront of important projects, followed by a coffee break.\nThis meeting seeks not only to share experiences and advances but also to demonstrate the growing number of women in the field, thus strengthening visibility and mutual support among professionals. <\/p>\n\n

CARTIF<\/a><\/strong>is planning an event where Beatriz Oriol Fernandez, noted for her work in engineering, will give a talk at the Marista La Inmaculada school in Valladolid.\nHer presentation will focus on engineering and her experience working at CARTIF, with the aim of inspiring both students and the educational community about the importance of female participation in science. <\/p>\n\n

CETECE<\/a><\/strong> opts for a digital strategy to expand its reach, preparing a video (or series of videos) in which women scientists from the center will share their professional experiences.\nThe initiative seeks to offer a glimpse into the day-to-day lives of these leading women scientists, providing advice and motivation for girls and women considering embarking on careers in science and research. <\/p>\n\n

CESEFOR<\/strong> <\/a>is involved with a media approach, participating in a television report within the space ‘Soria Natura’ of La 8 Soria.\nThis contribution will feature the participation of three female colleagues from the center, highlighting their experiences and achievements, and seeking to inspire other women to explore opportunities in science and technology. <\/p>\n\n

CTME<\/strong> <\/a>in collaboration with the I.E.S. ITCL<\/strong> <\/a>Technology Center celebrates this day through social networks, with a special post from its manager highlighting the female talent of the organization.\nIn addition, a group photo shoot has been organized to accompany this initiative, highlighting the contribution of women in the organization and fostering an atmosphere of inclusion and recognition. <\/p>\n\n

These activities not only celebrate the achievements of women in science and technology, but also underline the importance of technology centers as spaces for innovation, equality and professional development.<\/p>\n\n
