Europe faces the challenge of reducing its dependence on imports of critical raw materials, essential for energy transition and environmental sustainability.\nThe I4-GREEN project responds to this challenge by unleashing the green innovation potential of the EU’s interregional ecosystems.\nIts approach focuses on fostering mining that is both green, circular and socially responsible. <\/p>\n\n

Project objectives for a green and circular future<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

I4-GREEN<\/a> ‘s main goal is to transform the European extractive industry.\nIt seeks to revive ecosystems affected by deindustrialization, establish a unique node for the green transformation of the extractive industries and generate state-of-the-art process recovery technologies that are sustainable and have low environmental impact.\nThis approach aims not only to mitigate negative environmental impact, but also to unleash the power of green innovation to foster a sustainable transition in other EU regions. <\/p>\n\n

Green circular innovations in action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Through the implementation of two consolidated and profitable pilots in Portugal and Spain, I4-GREEN demonstrates its commitment to technological innovation.\nThese pilots serve as living laboratories to implement technological solutions that meet the needs of sustainable mining.\nFrom the re-evaluation of mine dumps and tailings to the development of new products, processes and technical services, the project promotes the application of green and circular technologies in mining. <\/p>\n\n

The ICAMCyL Center stands out in the I4-GREEN initiative as a key pillar in the promotion of sustainable mining practices and green innovation in Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Through the coordination of this project, ICAMCyL<\/a> drives the development and implementation of advanced technologies that support the extraction and processing of raw materials in an eco-innovative and energy-efficient manner.\nIts focus on the efficient management of industrial resources and the substitution of critical raw materials underscores its commitment to environmental sustainability and the reduction of Europe’s dependence on external imports. <\/p>\n\n
