We have a laboratory specialized in performing tests to determine the physical and mechanical properties of various wood products.
Our objective is to provide our customers with the necessary information to know and evaluate the characteristics of their products.
We perform a wide range of tests on different types of wood and wood-based products, including structural solid wood, spliced structural timber (KVH), glulam (GLT), micro-laminated timber (LVL), overhead line poles, wood-based panels, composite products (e.g., wood-concrete slabs), among others.
Our tests cover flexural, tensile, compression and shear tests, allowing us to evaluate the strength and mechanical behavior of wood products.
In addition, we perform specific tests for composite products, such as the evaluation of the quality of gluing (cyclic tests under specific hygrothermal conditions) and/or mechanical shear tests.
We also carry out more specialized tests, such as air permeability, water tightness, wind load resistance (WLR) by means of a window test bench and stability in wooden floors.
We also carry out penetration and chemical retention tests on treated wood, among others.
We have equipment that uses non-destructive vibration and acoustic techniques (NDT) to estimate the mechanical properties of wood and engineered wood products without damaging them.
This equipment is portable and can be used both in our facilities and for on-site measurements in sawmills or wood products factories.
In this way, we can evaluate a wide variety of wood products efficiently and accurately.
Our laboratory responds to our customers’ needs by providing them with accurate and reliable information on the performance of their wood products.
In particular, we help our customers meet the requirements of the Construction Products Regulation (CE Marking) by performing initial and follow-up testing to assess compliance.
We work with samples taken from routine manufacture as well as on site.
In addition, we offer a direct service to companies that carry out quality control on construction sites where wood products are used.
