In Castile and León, the eight technology centers affiliated with NODDO employ 755 professionals, generate 79 million euros in revenue, and have worked with 2,200 companies over the past three years.
The Spanish Federation of Technology Centers ( Fedit) has published its 2025 Annual Report, which reflects the sustained growth of technology centers and reinforces their role as key players in applied research, technology transfer, and business competitiveness.
Fedit currently comprises 56 Technology Centers and four regional clusters. In 2025, its member Technology Centers generated combined revenue of more than 973 million euros, carried out more than 22,000 innovation projects, and provided R&D&I services to nearly 30,000 companies.
These results demonstrate the ability of technology centers to link the generation of scientific and technological knowledge with the real needs of the business community, transforming it into new products, processes, services, and solutions applicable to the market.
NODDO and its Technology Centers: Capabilities at the Service of Businesses
Within this national ecosystem, NODDO brings together eight technology centers in Castile and León, facilitating the alignment of their scientific and technological capabilities with the innovation challenges faced by companies, government agencies, and organizations in the region.
According to aggregate data from the technology centers affiliated with NODDO, these centers bring together:
- 755 professionals.
- 524 R&D&I projects carried out annually.
- 79 million euros in revenue.
- 2,200 client companies over the past three years.
- About 35% of its revenue comes from contracts with companies.
These figures reflect the scale and capacity of the technology centers affiliated with NODDO to support the business community in its innovation processes.
The centers provide specialized personnel, scientific and technological expertise, laboratories, pilot plants, advanced infrastructure, and experience in developing and validating solutions. NODDO fosters collaboration among them and facilitates coordinated access to these capabilities for companies, tailoring them to the needs of each project.
One of Spain’s leading centers for applied research
The 2025 Annual Report also highlights the growth in research capacity at the technology centers affiliated with Fedit.
Together, they employ more than 11,100 professionals, of whom 8,747 are researchers and 1,914 hold doctoral degrees. This structure constitutes one of the country’s leading centers for applied research and technological development.
In 2025, the centers affiliated with Fedit recorded an average growth of:
- 6% in revenue.
- 2.9% of the workforce.
- 3.8% of research staff.
- 2.6% increase in the number of client companies.
In addition, the model strikes a balance between knowledge generation and its transfer to the market. 53.5% of revenue comes from the private sector, compared with 46.5% from public funding, while 73.5% of revenue is related to R&D activities, both in-house and contracted.
Economic Impact and Return on Investment in Innovation
The results compiled by Fedit show that the activity of technology centers generates more than 7.7 billion euros in GDP and helps sustain approximately 127,000 jobs in Spain.
The report also highlights the return on public programs designed to promote research and business innovation. In the case of the Cervera program, the estimated return is 8.5 euros for every euro invested.
At the European level, Spanish technology centers have a 25.1% success rate in Horizon Europe, reflecting their ability to lead and participate in highly competitive international projects.
From Science and Technology to Market Solutions
Technology Centers operate in strategic fields such as industry, energy, health, mobility, agri-food, construction, advanced materials, the circular economy, and digital technologies.
Its unique value lies in its ability to support companies throughout the entire innovation process: from identifying a need to the design, development, testing, validation, and implementation of a technological solution.
The Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities itself recognizes the central role of technology centers in connecting science, technology, and business, as they are the entities that generate the largest volume of revenue from technology transfer activities and hold the largest number of R&D contracts with third parties.
As Laura Olcina, president of Fedit, points out, the goal is to continue working to ensure that useful, accessible, and transformative innovation remains synonymous with the Technology Center.
